so another old friend and bassist, tony salisbury, died this past week from a battle with cancer. unreal. too young. too sad. what is going on...
not much to report, though. it was a long week. went snow tubing at buck hill with all the kidlets i work with. i don't know how those kids keep going down the hills. i went down twice and thought i was going to die each time. isn't it crazy how afraid you become of certain things once you become older. i wish i was still young and fearless.
dance has been going well. we are currently learning a modern dance, which i love. i think it is the type that i am best at. our tap dance, however, is putting a number on me. i want to resign from tap forever. my feet just do not move that fast.
hung out with justin a lot this week, per usual. a lot of green mill order out and movies/tv series. perfect. but now he is on a mini tour with his side project thang, and then he is off to write with mcs for two weeks. boo urns. but we have both decided that being apart will give us time to be productive and get skinnier, because all of that delicious food we eat is probably not the healthiest. haha.
this week i HAVE been really productive too. went shopping. cleaned like a maniac. did a lot at work. made a dentist check-up. i am enjoying this new found motivation!
tonight heather and i are going to the varsity to see our friends augustana. after jen texted me asking if i was going tonight, since she is the one who introduced us to them a few years ago, jared (bassist) from the band texted me offering list spots if we would hang. the show is with the plain white t's (which aren't my favorite live band) and someone else. i am pumped to see the guys! how incredibly sweet and generous of jared to think of me. some people in the business surprise me, especially when my good friends who i see all the time never give list spots. haha.
saturday we may go to cherise's birthday at the triple rock social club, but i am unsure if i am going.
sunday, if cherise is in town, us girls may have a girl day! i need one of those, stat!!!
i also am going to go to some art stores this weekend and research for a novel i am starting. i need to kick my butt in gear and just start writing. justin encourages, so does heather, and i just need to do it, or it will never get done.
'tis all for now, my loves!

number five with a bullet.
- kevin's funeral last friday was surreal. basically everyone i have been friends with in the past five years was there. i saw people i had not seen in years. the church was packed. if i have half as many people at my funeral, i will be grateful. he was obviously loved and adored by many. it was strange seeing all of the splintered groups of friends in different parts of the church. "one hell of a reunion" one person called it, and it was in however unfortunate conditions. everyone was civil, regardless of past conflicts, and kevin would have been proud to see what his life amounted to. i choked up mainly when i saw the family at the front of the church watching everyone with teary eyes approach for communion. arg... it was a bizarre day. it still has not hit me.
- last weekend i spent almost every day with justin. so wonderful. we basically just lounged and watched movies. went to his comedy sportz thing on friday (it was a good crowd this time). went and saw the wrestler. i highly recommend it. went to chang mai thai for some fine cuisine. a very satisfying weekend. i am an extremely lucky girl.
- heather's birthday was on the 14th. i have yet to receive her presents in the mail. UPS can suck it. but happy birthday to my favorite woman!!!
- went to the spirit of 76's cd release party show. fantastic! they are my favorite local band. doug tears up the stage like nobody's business! flawless. they even had a choir dressed in gowns come on stage. wondrous. farewell continental opened for them, which was a nice thing having all of my favorite people in the room. they were the best i have seen them yet. kari killed it (in the best way) with vocals. energy was good. crowd was good. yummy! i am starting to love love love their music. they have found a nice niche. so i hung with my girls, my boys, my boy, and others that night. ended up going to the uptown diner at 2:00 AM with justin, tommy, and their bassist for late night food and jokes. i was so tired though, and the food did not sit well. ick.
- tuesday(?) i went to justin's little sister's family birthday party. i loveeee his family. they are such a hilarious, interesting, and intelligent group of people. we went to luce in st. paul. jackie turned the big 18! hoorah!
- went and saw vicky cristina barcelona with miss dagger yesterday. i had been DYING to see it for months. i love woody allen films, and cherise had said good things about it when she saw it in europe. it was worth seeing. i may buy it in a few days. but overall it was sort of meh. penelope cruz, however, is UNREAL. she was worth every ticket dollar! holy crap. see it so you can see her!
- tonight i will be hanging with justin, i do believe. i may be addicted. yup.

sad news and updates.
working a lot. a lot. a lot. had to work this past saturday. wanted to die. interesting classes but very tiring and overwhelming. i ended up sleeping 18 hours within a 24 hour period. bleh!
in the past few weeks i have gone to the farewell continental show (as the previous post shows) with my mother, heather, my cousin casey, and mike minehart. we hung out with justin and kari before the show and all of us departed soon after their set. good times!
poor heather has been sick the past week or so, so we have not hung out. and her birthday is tomorrow (hoorah!!!) but i do not know if she will be up for going out. eventually we will celebrate!
the past two fridays i have gone to comedy sportz to support justin, as he helps out this improv comedy group on stage. pretty hilarious! the first friday i went with heather and we met up with raven and her mother. the next friday i just went with justin and laughed by myself when he was on. haha. i am so cool, it hurts.
yesterday morning dan called me, and immediately i knew something had happened to someone we knew. he proceeded to tell me that our friend kevin larson passed away the day previous. kevin was from the safetown days. between ages 18-21 there was a house that all of us would go to in anoka to party. every weekend. without fail. dance parties. drinking uno. dares. power animals. garage talks. endless endless nights. those days are still recalled by all of us as some of the best days we have had.
kevin was never one of my best friends, and many in my extended circle of friends were closer to him than i ever was, but i have never yet had someone i know as a friend die. i am still in shock, to be honest. i don't think it will hit me until the funeral on friday. even then i cannot comprehend that i will never compliment him on his bass skills or his new hairstyle. i will never hear his distinctive voice or laugh again. it is completely unreal to me... i know he will be missed, and that his funeral will have so many people there that loved him.
i need to sleep a lot. eat less. stress less. cheer up more. stop causing myself problems. and chill. out. in general, yeah.
i can do it!
p.s. anyone know of any good podcasts to subscribe to??? i am lately obsessed with uploading songs and my podcasts to my phone. i currently listen to this american life. what else should i be listening to? help me!

bring on the major leagues.
so this new years' week has been fantasticwondifericbeautious! where to start...
sunday lydia and i met up with jen, since she was in town from LA for her birthday concert the next day. she brought in tow her new boyfriend, jason, and an old friend of ours, matt (from thrifyhipster.com). i had not seen jen since her going away party months and months ago at the fineline. it was good getting out to see her before she had so many people to hang with at her party. her boyfriend is fabulous and very sweet. i was plenty happy for her. we all drank at the red dragon in uptown, and we forced jason to consume the signature drink there, the wonderous punch. drunk here you come! i had to leave early to wake up for work the next morning, but all in all it was a good choice to say hello to an old friend.
monday was jen's party at the kitty cat klub (i always get confused where the 'k's go in that). anyways. first heather, lyds, and i met up with cherise (who was newly in town from italy) and brittany (who was visiting from portland). we had not seen those girls for a long while, and it was a perfect hang out. things have gotten so good since we parted ways. they were not awful when they left, but you realize how good people are when they are gone. cherise and i had talked a decent amount whilst she was away, and it was a relief to have found such a lovely friend upon her return. after hangs with them at the library, we all ventured down the block to the club. the night had promised to showcase a ton of the local musicians/bands in town in acoustic format. when we arrived it was beautiful chaos (probably because i was not really involved in the chaos part). EVERYONE seemed to be there. of course jen and jason, jen's old co-workers who i had not seen in months, drew (from 50 records), dan rodriguez, roster mccabe, dan, gabers, derek (from the wannabe hasbeens), melissa, steven, gremlin, bailey, sharon, tyler (from readygoes), george (from readygoes), sam (from shoreline), of course mo (from oh crap mo is here, readygoes, and the wannabe hasbeens), the after august guys, the sunshine behavior guys, ari herstand, mike minehart (who set up a wonderous photobooth), and more people that i can not even remember! it was a crazy reunion of the entire scene (it felt like)! there was some craziness because there seemed to be many lovers and ex-lovers triangles and pentagons with so many people, but no outward drama happened as far as i could tell! anyway. a lot of pictures were taken from the night by mike minehart, and i will post below many (and many which seem all like the same picture, but deal with it!).

new years came along and i went to pick up justin from the airport. he had just ventured to alaska to explore and work on writing his band's new album. we then went to white castle (classy bitches we are) and proceeded to order the entire menu. holy crap! we then went back to his place and ate while watching transformers. hoorah! i want a transformer as a pet! aww. when the bell tolled midnight we toasted and stuff to the year with non-alcoholic champagne. we both were sleepy, soon after, though. before the night ended, however, i gained a boyfriend. official and stuff with a token as well. crazy! it is all as it was, just non-confusing. i like it. sigh.
tonight i headed to justin's family's house for dinner. i already love his sisters, and had already met almost everyone there. we laughed and talked and laughed some more. delicious food! quirky and wonderful company! all together splendid!!!
what more can a girl want? not much i tell you. not much. i hope everyone's new years went as well as mine!!! let's make this one better than the last (and make things good before 2012 hits and the world ends. hoorah)!
