with loving hands, knowing evil will prevail.

this week i have found myself realizing that to make my days more fulfilling, i need to expand my friend base and make some qualifying effort.

lately i feel like i am starting over at age twenty-four. my previous friend group has splintered and faltered, in parts. the parts that remain are quality, but there are parts of it that are just toxic to my growth and sanity.

for the first time since middle school, i have begun to again feel the sting of loneliness in the social arena. everyone has started their own families, become routine idiots, do not include or invite, or have invested themselves in lifestyles that do not suit me anymore. i am left wondering where i fit in with my remaining group of friends--what i can contribute anymore.

therefore, i have made efforts lately to reach out to some of the wonderful, interesting humans that i have lost touch with.

i am making plans, filling up my calender, and allowing myself to attend unfamiliar gatherings and events.

this is highly unusual for me.

i am trying.

thus far i have gone to a rad "rock and roll pool party" hosted by the organization rock the cause. that night included a heated pool, a tiki bar, live music outside, and many minneapolis industry folk i have not seen in a while. it was well worth the decision to go.

today i went out for coffee, electric fetus action, and a house party gathering with tommy. many hours with good company and conversation.

tomorrow i catch up with my triple threat girls.

next week i have plans with my old college roommate/church friend carly and her fiancee (and my friend) patrick, possibly with sara k., and jackie pierre's graduation party.

future plans with other amazing individuals this month and others to come.

i think this is a step toward the direction of a more rewarding and diverse circle of friends.

i am excited.

i leave you with this new MCS webisode. buy their album when it comes out, or perish.

Just don't forget about me, okay. I always want a place in your life. And you always are my light.

I know exactly how you feel with this post. It's great to be able to expand your circle of friends! Sometimes no matter how long you've been friends with someone, their lives change and you can't follow along with them, cause you aren't there yet, or you will never be there. Rock on to new friends, it's so much fun getting to know people, or re-getting to know people! Have FUN!!!

heather- of course i cannot ever forget about you. are you kidding me? you are still my life source, you are just a more occupied life source now. ;] which is perfect, and lovely.

erin- hi! thanks for commenting! i am glad you understand my rambling. makes me feel like i may not be the only one trying to figure these things out. oh, life! glad to meet (?) you!

Can so relate - not always easy to meet new people here either. plus, I have discovered at least half of them are crazy! a word of warning! :)

i am not alone, hoorah!!! i like this feeling. ha.

and, indeed. many are crazy orrr they like nickelback, hinder, and nascar a whole too lot.

Hahahaha, I live in the province where Nikelback are from. Sweet Jesus, good thing I'm not native to these parts! I live in a city which I like to call the Canadian wild wild west, in city form! that's a hard thing to picture, I know. I moved out here about a year ago from Toronto, which is the largest city in Canada, about 5 million peeps, and still don't have any friends. How the eff do you meet people? "Uh hi do you want to be my friend?" Ya, I'm sure that'll go over well :)
p.s. Enchanté

haha - now we know where all those Hinderback fans come from, the Canadian wild wild west! and the Nascar fans are actually from my little hometown in SW MN, I have to take credit for those nutjobs! :)

i have yet to find the interesting ones - i stick to the people i already know and people i don't actually know on the interweb!

you guys' places of living are the cause of all of this!?!?

ugh!

;]

and i love canada, from little i have been in it. very lovely country.

livig in mn, like brittany and i do, is not so awful, but man. there is definitely a large group of people who i do not share interests with.

Sure, I'll take the heat for nikleback and go as far as saying, on behalf of all canadians, we are so sorry about nikleback, honest. It should never have happened... Ya this city is weird, cowboys vs. us regular peeps. I much prefer the big city life in Toronto, although Toronto doesn't have the rocky mountains 1 hour away! Do you gals have any exciting summer plans?

agreed - love Minneapolis and Minnesota - and for all the weirdos there are just as many awesome people (like us, obvsly)!

and Erin, checked out your blog (total blog lurker, not writer [yet anyway]) and Banff has been on my list of must see places for quite some time - you are lucky to be so close!

yeah i dig the toronto. beautiful city!

not much planned for this summer. as said, trying to meet/re-meet interesting humans to hang out with.

any big plans for you guys?

I'm having a few visitors this summer and hopefully heading back to Toronto in September. Went to banff yesterday. Awesome, and will be going again in 2 weeks. I finally found a job so my summer will be much more fun now that I will be getting regular pay cheques. Woo hoo!
